How this is calculated

  • Total = flights (per person × travelers) + lodging (per night × nights) + daily spend (per person × travelers × nights) + one-time costs.
  • A buffer percentage is added on top for the unexpected.
  • Per person = total ÷ travelers.
  • Monthly savings = total ÷ months until the trip.

Every figure here is a well-worn planning rule of thumb, not a quote — use it to budget early, then lock in real numbers as you book.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I budget for a honeymoon?

It depends entirely on the destination and length, but many couples spend between $4,000 and $10,000. Add up flights, lodging, daily spending, and one-time costs like excursions, then keep a buffer for the unexpected. This calculator builds that total from your own numbers so you are not guessing.

What does daily spend cover?

Daily spend is the per-person amount you expect to use each day on food, drinks, local transport, and small activities. Multiply it by travelers and nights for the trip total. One-off splurges like a big excursion or new luggage go under one-time costs instead.

Why include a buffer?

Travel costs are easy to underestimate — currency exchange, tips, baggage fees, a nicer dinner, or a spontaneous tour. A buffer of around 10 to 15 percent keeps a surprise from blowing the budget. Adjust the percentage to match how flexible your plans are.

How much should I save each month?

Enter the number of months until your honeymoon and the calculator divides the total by that timeline to show a monthly savings target. Leave it at zero to skip the target. A registry honeymoon fund or travel-rewards card can help you reach the goal faster.
